Shulin Dist., New Taipei City– August 4, 2026– Everlight Electronics Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Everlight”) filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Nichia Corporation (hereinafter “Nichia”) in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan Southern Division on July 30, 2026. Everlight alleges that the high-power products manufactured and sold by Nichia have infringed upon its US flip-chip patent, US Patent No. 7,554,126.
Everlight’s US 7,554,126 patent relates to LED flip-chip and packaging processes. By adjusting the area of the N/P electrodes, the technology achieves excellent adhesion between the LED chip and solder, providing high heat dissipation and packaging reliability. This key technology has a wide range of applications. In addition to flash LEDs, it is also applicable to automotive LEDs, high-power lighting, displays, and other fields, and is a key technology for LED flip-chip packaging. Everlight states that Nichia’s specific LED products have utilized Everlight’s US patent No. 7,554,126 with flip-chip technology. This patent is applicable not only to optical components for mobile devices but also covers multiple fields such as consumer electronics components, general lighting, filaments, UVC, LEDs for automotive optical components, CSP, backlighting, flashlights, and Mini/Micro LED.
